Kim Tyrer now a partner in Galafrey Wines, was brought up with the vines and the wine industry. A part time job became full time, when her father passed away in 2003. Kim left a thriving art career to run the day to day operations of the vineyard and winery. With her background as an artist, her creativity helps when designing labels, packaging etc. Also Kim is responsible for public relations and marketing. One of the pioneers of the Mount Barker Wine region. Formally in the computer industry, Linda with her late husband Ian planted the vineyard in 1977. Featured in 2008 Who's Who for her work in the wine industry and the community. Linda is affectionately known as the finance dept here at Galafrey Wines and sometimes the Ministry of No. After 41 years in the industry her experience and knowledge is very valuable and she is one tough chick! The people love her service at cellar door as she makes everyone welcome.
Ian Tyrer was a pioneer of the Western Australian Wine Industry and won the Wine Press Club's George Mulgrave award in 2003. Ian was known for his hearty laugh and ginger beard. He was often refered to as the jovial winemaker. The wine 'The Jovial' a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot celebrates his life as the man behind Galafrey Wines. He is sadly missed. Often quoted for his two most famous sayings
'....I'm a busy little winemaker!' 'I make wine, to make money, to buy beer!'

if there is one estate where I don’t doubt the authenticity it is Galafrey. Run by the ever enthusiastic Kim Tyrer, you can just taste the extra concentration of a genuine dry-grown vineyard here. Every single Galafrey release has an extra depth that suggests small berries, low yields and real flavour.
Planted in 1977, the same time Tom Baker was in the middle of being the best Doctor Who ever (1974-1981). Jelly baby?
