Ian Tyrer- Founder and Wine Industry Pioneer 1946-2003
Ian Tyrer was a pioneer of the Western Australian Wine Industry and won the Wine Press Club's George Mulgrave award in 2003. Ian was known for his hearty laugh and ginger beard. He was often refered to as the jovial winemaker. The wine 'The Jovial' a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot celebrates his life as the man behind Galafrey Wines. He is sadly missed. Often quoted for his two most famous sayings
'....I'm a busy little winemaker!' 'I make wine, to make money, to buy beer!'
